Annual Gala: The Show Must Go On!

Friends of Rising Ground look forward to our beloved Annual Awards Gala, when we can all celebrate our many achievements and hear from the very people we support. The pandemic compels us to celebrate virtually this year, but we’ve been busy as bees making sure you enjoy yourself as much as you would have in person.

Here’s what’s in store for you on September 22 at 6:30 PM!

This year’s gala will include everything you love! Chuck Nice is returning as emcee. You’ll hear words of inspiration from our Board Chair Matt Del Percio and Rising Ground CEO Alan Mucatel. And, as always, you will be moved by the heartwarming stories shared by the individuals supported by our programs and the staff that supports them. Their remarks really drive home the value and impact of our work.

Plus, as a gala guest, you will join us in honoring our very special award recipients!

The Champion for Children Award is going to Rising Ground’s Essential Workers, who, despite the pandemic, are continuing to support the 25,000 children, adults, and families in our residential and community programs. You’ll hear about the extraordinary lengths they took to attend to the varied needs of supported persons, most of whom are disproportionately impacted by the pandemic.

The Thelma Stackhouse Award will be presented to Bank of New York Mellon for its many years of service and unwavering support of our organization. We are grateful to have Bank of New York Mellon’s strong commitment to our cause.

Rising Ground will also pay tribute to the late Lawrence B. Thompson, Esq., who contributed so much to our board during his many years of service.

The gala would not be complete without our highly anticipated Service Auction, which will give you a chance to directly support our 50+ life-affirming programs that provide positive paths forward for New York City children, adults, and families.

The online auction will open on September 15, so you can review and bid on the service options before the gala. The auction will also remain open for a week after the gala to allow you to make additional gifts.
