Improving Learning with an iPad

Improving Learning with an iPad
In a Brownell School classroom full of chatter and activity, four-year-old Kristopher, who is on the autism spectrum, had difficulty sticking with one activity. This hampered his social, emotional, and academic growth. When staff saw research showing how iPad activities engage children on the autism spectrum, they brought their own iPads into their classrooms. With one in his hands, Kristopher is able to sit still and focus. Under the guidance of his teachers, he is using it to develop learning skills and now, even when he is distracted, he quickly returns his attention to the iPad. With funding from donors, Rising Ground furnishes iPads to help children like Kristopher communicate more easily and begin to work independently.
