Work can be a source of pride and purpose, as well as a way to gain greater financial independence. Rising Ground works with adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities to gain the skills and experience to find employment that aligns with their interests and aspirations.
Our Pre-Vocational program provides hands-on training through volunteering, professional skill building, and other work-related activities. Participants learn the culture of the workplace including how to interact positively with co-workers and expectations about dress and timeliness. They can then build confidence in their mastery of various skills through practical on-the-job experiences or by volunteering in other programs.
Once someone has completed pre-vocational training and is ready to work, our Supportive Employment program helps them find a job that is personally fulfilling. We provide job coaching and on-the-job mentoring as well as assistance looking for the right job. Some people may be also trained in the specific skills needed by an employer.
