Rising Ground’s Foundation Place, our center-based respite program, provides parents and caregivers with short-term childcare services at our Brooklyn facility. Respite can be planned or offered during emergencies and times of crisis. Foundation Place allows parents and caregivers to attend outpatient services, schedule appointments for themselves, or simply take time to recharge knowing their child or children are temporarily safe and cared for. Foundation Place is open 24/7 and children aged 0–14 can stay with us up to 21 days. As the city’s only center-based respite program, it fills a gap in family stabilization services by allowing parents and caregivers to find temporary care for their children without having them enter the child welfare system.
In addition to providing temporary relief, Foundation Place helps to improve family stability and reduce the risk of undesirable circumstances by helping parents and caregivers recognize when they may be in need of intervention and identifying family and community-based support. Children and families receive empathetic and non-judgmental care in a safe and nurturing space.
